Saudi 100 Nominee

Ayman Felemban is the Director of International Conventions and Treaties at the Saudi Ports Authority (MAWANI), where he drives the Kingdom’s alignment with international maritime frameworks while advancing sustainability and regulatory excellence.

With a proven record of accomplishment in circular economy, recycling and sustainable maritime practices, Ayman has spearheaded pioneering initiatives that positioned Saudi Arabia as a global leader in maritime sustainability. He embedded the principles of the circular economy into the maritime sector and his leadership extended to implementing the largest recycling program in the MENA region, contributing to the recycling of over 400 tons of food, solid, cocking and engine oil waste, and raising the recycling rate of marine operations to 70% in 2023.

He has led award-winning projects, including the Environmental Protection of Coastal Tourism Project, which earned the 2024 Japan Tourism Award in Tokyo; the Sustainable Tourism Game-Changer Award in Dubai for integrating environmental protection and circular economy into coastal tourism regulations; and a Special Regional Award for introducing sustainability notation onboard four classed vessels—making Saudi Arabia the first in the Middle East to achieve this milestone.

Ayman also successfully directed a cross-functional network of more than 70 executive committee members and 10 steering committee entities, unifying national efforts to address marine environmental challenges in line with international standards and played a key role in achieving third overall for the Marine Department to extend the lifecycle of marine assets and retain the maximum value of our natural resources.
