Saudi 100 Nominee

Matthew has worked across the GCC for in excess of 20 years and has helped drive cultural change within many multi-national organisations. He is a Board Member and Trustee of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM)  and currently serves as Corporate HSE Director for Almabani General Contractors, based in Riyadh.

Whilst Matthew’s portfolio includes oversight of Occupational Health and Safety and Worker’s Welfare, he is especially proud of the organisation’s commitment to environmental protection and sustainability.

Almabani is one of the Kingdom’s first to subscribe to the Global Reporting Initiative for Sustainability where Environmental, Social and Governance commitments and achievements are continuously mapped, followed and challenged.

Our commitment to sustainability is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. We are focused on contributing to utilizing clean energy, innovative industry practices, sustainable urban development, and climate action. We also fully support Saudi Arabia’s target of achieving net-zero emissions by 2060, as envisioned in Vision 2030

In 2024 alone, across its operations, nearly 1.3 million tonnes of waste was generated and yet, in excess of 1.2 million tonnes of that waste was diverted for recycling to reduce the impact on the environment, representing a staggering achievement. In 2024 over 60% of all excavated materials was reused and in 2025, that figure is over 80%.

Promoting the circular economy, we are committed to building sustainable supply chains  focusing on local content to reduce our carbon footprint. We are actively recruiting, training and nurturing the next generation of Saudi professionals, employing the same across the entire portfolio of the companies operations, from finance, HR and governance to construction operations and HSE .

Whilst Matthew is grateful to have been nominated, his sense of pride is driven by his organisation’s continued commitment to a sustainable future.
